A Year Into the Journey

Journey to Grateful is officially a year old! I have learned a lot about blogging and graphics and all that goes into this work. I’ve also learned so much more about God and His Word. In sharing my heart and my life with you, I hope I have helped make your journey a little easier. Thank you for reading and for all of the great comments! In recognition of completing the inaugural year of J2G, I decided to share my first post again. I’m glad I followed God’s leading in this. And whatever God is calling you to do, I pray you will follow Him too!

Have you ever gotten an idea for a new project or been drawn into a new relationship or decided to jump into a new venture and all of a sudden you hear a voice in your head saying “What am I thinking? I am not qualified for this. I am not spiritual enough for this. Is God really calling me to do this?” I’ve been there. In fact I’m there right now.

In deciding to start this blog I have prayed and searched my heart for a way to know that this is really God’s will for me. What He wants me to be doing now. And here are a couple of questions you might ask yourself if you find that you are in a similar situation.

1. Is this what God has specifically asked you to do? If the answer is “yes” then good for you and go for it! You can be sure that God will bless and direct anything that He has called you to do no matter how insecure you may feel about your ability to complete the task.

If your answer is “I’m not sure” then proceed to question two.

2. Does what you feel led to do line up with what scripture teaches and what you think God is calling you to do? If your answer to this question is “yes” then move ahead with the fervent prayer that God will light each step you take and keep you in the path He sets before you.

God has given each one of us gifts for the intention of using them to encourage and build up the body of Christ.  So having asked and answered these questions about beginning this blog with a quiet but confident “yes” then this is what I will do, and I pray you will be encouraged as you read these posts. We are in this journey to grateful together.

Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.”  Matthew 22:37 (NLT)

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”  Isaiah 30:21

Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand.  Psalm 73:23

Undistracted

Satan loves to distract us with things, both trivial and life-altering, that will take our focus off of Jesus. The enemy is an expert at creating diversionary tactics to keep us from doing the things we can only do if we keep our eyes on our Savior.
