Recently I’ve gotten to spend time with my precious grandchildren. Whenever I know I will be with them I am filled with pure delight. They bring me such pleasure and joy. They may be laughing or fussy, happy or tired, or maybe even a little smelly – I don’t care. Just being in the same room brings me pure joy! Every visit we have, I am delighted to see these amazing little humans and watch them grow up right before my eyes!
To be delighted means to be highly pleased, to take great pleasure in, to approve. Did you know God feels this way about us? It doesn’t matter if we’re laughing or crying, eager to be with Him or reluctant, or maybe even a little smelly! He tells us so in the Bible. Here are a few ways He delights in us.
He led me to a place of safety; he rescued me because he delights in me. Psalms 18:19
For the Lord delights in his people; he crowns the humble with victory. Psalms 149:4
The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Psalms 37:23
The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy. Proverbs 12:22 NIV
The Lord detests people with crooked hearts, but he delights in those with integrity. Proverbs 11:20
The Lord detests evil plans, but he delights in pure words. Proverbs 15:26
The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but he delights in the prayers of the upright. Proverbs 15:8
No, the Lord ’s delight is in those who fear him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love. Psalms 147:11
Isn’t it good to know that God delights in us? We bring Him pleasure and He approves of us.
